Psalm: 3
Iconography: The psalmist sleeps on his bed and then rises up, encouraged by the Lord's protection. I have slept and am calmed and have risen up: because the lord protected me.
Art: On this page the normal layout of the psalm page is established. Scribe 2 leaves the appropriate gap, with straight margins, for the later insertion of the initial and tag. Visible under drawing shows that the hem of Christ's cloak was sketched with complex folds but was painted straight, and the foliage flourish at the top had an extra twining frond. A gap has been left in the (very neat) gilding to allow the overlap of this tendril.

Historical Relevance: Christina uttered the first lines of this psalm 'Lord, how are they increased that trouble me. Many are they that rise up against me' (Talbot, 1998, 56-7). Her spiritual counsellor Sueno had repudiated her when he heard that she had married Burhred, not realising that it was against her will.
