Psalm: 7
Iconography: At the top, the psalmist is being saved from his devilish persecutors. Lord my God in you I have put my trust: save me. Below, his soul is being dragged from his mouth to be torn to pieces not by lions, according to the text, but by more devils. Devils are interpreted as lions in I Peter 5:8. Lest at any time like a lion he seize and carry off my soul. On the bottom rim, a sinner's body is being trampled under foot into the earth: trample under foot my life in the earth
Art: Under drawing reveals a far more complex image. There is an extra devil behind the shoulder of the upper man; a rectangular shape extended beyond his cloak hem; along the lower edge, a long-nosed devil faces left; and a crushed body lies trampled under the devil's feet
