Psalm: 13
Iconography: Christ raises a warning figure while the fool who said there is no God is stripped of his robe by the psalmist. The fool has said in his heart: there is no God. Denial of God was the most extreme form of human pride and the Rule of St Benedict recommended corporal punishment for the sin of pride (Rule, chapter xxviii). This figure is being prepared for the lash.
Art: On this page the initial was drawn first and the script wrapped around it, particularly clear in the line at the bottom of the initial.. Pp73-7491-92 form the outer bifolio of quire 6 and, as observed by Peter Kidd, are written by a different hand from the rest of the psalter, namely Scribe 6.
