Psalm: 114
Iconography: The central figure carries his own naked soul on his back. He is being attacked by four men who stone him: The sorrows of death have surrounded me and the dangers of hell have found me. I have found trouble and sorrow: and I have called upon the name of the lord. He points to the caption: O Lord deliver my soul. The stoning of the soul is not specifically mentioned. Stoning was the punishment for adultery and Stephen the first martyr was stoned to death. However, the figure is unlikely to be Stephen because it lacks a nimbus.
Art: The book has taken on a life of its own. It is placed in the space left for the caption but no one is even holding it.
