Translation

But when they were troublesome to me:/ I put on a hair shirt./ I humbled my soul in fasting:/ and my prayer shall be turned into my bosom./ As a neighbour as our brother/ so I did please: as in mourning/ and saddened so was I humbled./ And they rejoiced against me/ and they came together: whips were gathered together upon me and I knew not./ There were squandered and did not repent: they tempted me/ they scorned me with scorning:/ they gnashed upon me with their teeth./ Lord when will you regard: restore my soul./ from their malice: my only one from the lions./ I will confess to you in the great church:/ I will praise you amongst an important people./ Let them not rejoice over me who oppose/ me unjustly: who have hated me/ without cause and wink with the eyes./ Because indeed they spoke to me peaceably:/ and speaking in resentment of the earth:/
