Translationand the hungry are filled./ While the barren have borne most:/ and the one who had many children is weakened./ The Lord kills and gives life he leads [some] down to Hell and [some] he brings back./ The Lord makes poor and makes wealthy:/ he humbles and exalts./ He lifts the needy from the dust:/ and he raises the poor from the dunghill./ that he may sit with princes:/ and occupy the throne of glory./ For the axes of the earth are the lord’s:/ and he has set the earth upon them./ He will preserve the feet of his holy ones:/ and the wicked shall fall silent in darkness:/ because no man shall prevail by his own strength./ The adversaries of the lord shall be terrified of him: and/ he shall thunder in the heavens on them./ The lord shall judge the ends of the earth:/ and he shall give sovereignty to his king:/ and he shall raise on high the horn of his anointed one./ |
