The lines are completed herewith the fat of lambs and rams of the sons of basan And goats with wheaten marrow: and he might drink the purest blood of the grape The beloved one grew fat and kicked back: [you] grew fat thick [and] distracted./ He forsook god his maker: and departed from god his saviour./ they provoked him with strange gods: and urges him to anger with [their] abominations/ They sacrificed to devils and not to god to gods whom they did not know./ and to new [gods] that had recently come: whom their fathers had not worshipped./ You have forsaken the god who produced you: and forgotten the god who created you./ The Lord saw and was roused to wrath: : because his sons and daughters provoked him./ and he said I will conceal my face from them; and will consider their last end [shall be]./ For it is a perverse generation: and unfaithful children./ They have provoked me with that in which there was no god |
