Translationbecause he foresees that his day shall come./ The sinners have drawn swords:/ they have strained their bow./ To deceive the poor and the needy:/ that they might massacre the upright of heart./ Let their swords enter into their own hearts: and their bow be broken./ Better is a little to the just:/ above much riches of sinners./ Because the arms of sinners shall be crumbled:/ but the lord strengthens the just./ The lord knows the days of the immaculate: and their inheritance shall be forever./ They shall not be thrown into disorder in the evil time:/ and in days of famine they shall be filled:/ because the sinners shall perish./ Certainly the enemies of the lord presently shall be honoured and exalted: shall fail and fail like smoke./ The sinner shall borrow and not pay:/ but the just is merciful and will give./ Because they who bless him shall inherit the earth: but they that curse him be undone./ |
