Translationthey have defiled the tabernacle of your name./ Their kindred together have said in their heart:/ let us make all the festival days of god to cease from the earth./ Our signs we have not seen: there is now no prophet:/ and he will know us no more./ How long god shall the enemy reproach:/ the adversary provoke your name unto the end./ Why do you turn away your hand and your right hand:/ out of the midst of your bosom for ever./ But god our king before the ages:/ he has wrought salvation in the midst of the earth./ You in your strength have confirmed the sea:/ you have crushed the heads of the dragons in the waters./ You have broken the heads of the dragon:/ you have given him for meat to the peoples of aethiopia./ You have broken up in pieces fountains and rapids:/ you have dried the rivers of aethan./ The day is yours and the night is yours/ you have made the morning light and the sun./ You have made all the borders of the earth:/ the summer and the spring you have formed them./ Be mindful of this the enemy has reproached the lord:/ |
