Translationpatient and very merciful./ He will not be angry always:/ neither will he threaten forever./ He has not dealt with us according to our sins/ neither has he rewarded us according to our injustices./ Because according to the height of heaven from the earth:/ he has made his mercy strong upon those who fear him./ As far as the east is distant from the west:/ he has made our injustices that far from us./ As a father has compassion for his children:/ so has the lord compassion on those who fear him:/ because he has known our form./ He remembered that we are dust:/ man’s days are like grass:/ he shall flourish like the flower of the field./ Because the spirit shall pass in him and he shall not continue:/ and he shall know his place no more./ But the mercy of the lord is from eternity:/ and to eternity upon those who fear him./ And his justice is on the children’s children:/ to them that preserve his covenant./ And are mindful of his commandments: to do them./ |
