Translationand they adored the carved image./ And they changed their glory:/ into the likeness of calf that eats grass./ They forgot god who saved them:/ who did great things in egypt: marvellous things/ in the land of cham terrible things in the red sea./ And he said that he would ruin them:/ if moyses his chosen one had not stood/ before him in the downfall./ To turn away his wrath that he should not ruin them:/ and they held as nothing the desirable land./ They did not believe his word:/ and they murmured in their tents:/ they did not hear the voice of the lord./ And he lifted up his hand over them:/ to overthrow them in the desert./ And to cast down their seed among the nations:/ and to scatter them in the territories./ And they were initiated to beelphegor:/ and they ate sacrifices to the dead./ And they provoked him with their inventions:/ and destruction was multiplied on them./ |
