Translationthe proud have hidden a snare for me./ And they have stretched out ropes in a trap:/ they have laid a stumbling block for me by the wayside./ I said to the lord you are my god:/ hear lord the voice of my prayer./ Lord lord the strength of my salvation:/ you have overshadowed my head on the day of battle./ Do not give me up lord from my desire to the sinner:/ they have devised against me do not forsake me/ lest they should triumph./ The head of them surround me: the labour/ of their lips shall overwhelm them./ Burning coals shall fall on them: you shall cast them down into the fire/ in miseries they shall not [be able to] stand up./ A man full of speech shall not be established on the earth:/ evils shall take the unjust man into destruction./ I have known that our lord will carry out the judgement of the needy:/ and the revenge of the poor./ But as for the just they shall acknowledge your name:/ and the righteous shall dwell in your countenance./ |
